Lazio beat Monza 3-1 to draw level with Inter at the top, while Roma drew 0-0 at Como with ten men, Juventus 1-1 at Cagliari and Milan 1-1 at Sassuolo.
Lazio beat Monza 3-1 on Sunday to join Inter on 16 points at the top of Serie A, on a matchday 6 Sunday when Roma, Juventus and Milan all dropped points. Four things we learned.
1. Lazio win, but Gattuso is not happy
Nuno Tavares scored with a left-footed shot from 20 metres after three minutes at the Olimpico and Gustav Isaksen made it 2-0 at 23'. Monza, down to ten men, pulled one back less than a minute into the second half through substitute Goglichidze, and Lazio struggled until Andrea Pinamonti, on for Tijjani Noslin at 75', turned in Pedraza's cross at 88' for his first Lazio goal. It is five wins from six, but coach Gennaro Gattuso compared it to the win over Milan: "Today we were lucky, against Milan we had been lucky, but next time we will be punished." He also played down the top spot: "Lazio are first but that has nothing to do with us, we have to live day by day." Lazio visit Juventus next Sunday, 18 October.
2. Ten-man Roma hold on at Como
Como and Roma played out the first 0-0 of the season. Roma were the more dangerous side early on: Paulo Dybala missed a clear chance at 6' and Lorenzo Pellegrini, back after six months out, hit the post at 11'. Then Donyell Malen was sent off eight minutes into the second half for a dangerous challenge on Como's Kaiki. Roma goalkeeper Gollini, playing his first Serie A game in two years, kept Nico Paz out at 72'. Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini called it a red card judged "by freeze-frame". Como coach Cesc Fabregas disagreed and said Wesley should also have been sent off for his foul on Assane Diao, but he admitted: "Our regret is that we did not know how to manage the extra man." Roma are third on 14 points; Como have 11.
3. Daniel Maldini keeps Cagliari fourth
Daniel Maldini put Cagliari ahead at 20' on his birthday, his fourth goal in four consecutive games. Juventus had 80% of the ball, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, and only equalised at 81', when Randal Kolo Muani headed in Alajbegovic's cross for his first league goal in 231 days. Kolo Muani then hit the crossbar at 85'. At the final whistle the two coaches, Juventus' Luciano Spalletti and Cagliari's Fabio Pisacane, went face to face and referee Marcenaro sent both off. "Games like tonight's have to be won. Full stop," said Spalletti, who insisted "nothing happened" with Pisacane. Cagliari stay fourth on 13 points; Juventus are sixth on 11, five behind the leaders.
4. Milan still unbeaten, still stalling
Milan coach Ruben Amorim started Luka Modric on the bench and brought him on at half-time. The Croatian set up Adrien Rabiot's opener at 63', but Sassuolo substitute Cas Odenthal equalised from a corner five minutes later. Sassuolo thought they had won it at 88', when Kristian Thorstvedt headed in, but the goal was ruled out for a block by Bowie. Milan also lost defender Matteo Gabbia, carried off on a stretcher at 18'. "We lost two points, we cannot be satisfied," Amorim told Sky Sport. Milan are fifth on 12 points, four off the top.
