Teenager José Antonio Morante scored four minutes into his LaLiga debut as Betis made it four home wins from four, despite Osasuna pulling back to 3-2.
Real Betis beat Osasuna 5-2 at La Cartuja on Sunday, with captain Isco Alarcón scoring twice and 19-year-old José Antonio Morante adding the fifth in the 96th minute of his LaLiga debut. Manuel Pellegrini's side are third on 19 points, level with second-placed Atlético Madrid and a point ahead of Real Madrid.
Three up, then five nervous minutes
Isco opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 10th minute after Osasuna's Unai Santos caught Betis's Riquelme in the face inside the box. It was Isco's first goal in almost five months. Abde Ezzalzouli doubled the lead in the 31st minute, finishing at the near post after Cucho Hernández played him in.
The third arrived in the 48th minute with some luck: Ante Budimir's clearance from an Isco cross struck Betis defender Diego Llorente on the head and went in, and the goal was recorded as a Budimir own goal.
Osasuna then scored twice in five minutes. Budimir pulled one back in the 51st minute, a goal first ruled offside and awarded after a VAR review, and former Betis player Raúl García de Haro made it 3-2 in the 56th minute after a corner, choosing not to celebrate.
Isco settles it
Isco restored the two-goal cushion in the 67th minute, firing into the top corner after a scramble in the box. Osasuna claimed a foul in the build-up. "I didn't see it. I kept going after a lot of rebounds, I went with faith, it fell to me and I scored an important goal because it had become very complicated," Isco said afterwards.
He was named man of the match and replaced by Dani Ceballos in the 74th minute, his longest outing of the season. ABC Sevilla notes the 34-year-old, who played only nine matches last season because of injuries, has not completed a full game since the Conference League final against Chelsea in May 2025. These were his first goals as a Betis player at La Cartuja. "I'm happy, I have more and more rhythm," he said, while admitting the Osasuna comeback was "something to correct" after "five minutes of disconnection".
A debut goal for Morante
Morante came on in the 92nd minute and four minutes later hit a strong shot that deflected off an Osasuna defender past goalkeeper Aitor Fernández. "He is a player who has everything. He is young, with a lot of potential and quality and a very good shot. He is in the perfect team to grow in the best possible way," Isco said of the forward.
What it changes
Betis have now won all four league games at La Cartuja this season and are unbeaten in 15 LaLiga matches there, according to El Periódico. Their last home league defeat came on 6 December 2025. Barcelona, eight wins from eight and five points clear at the top, are the next league visitors to Seville. Osasuna stay 16th on 8 points, with 18 goals conceded in eight games.
