Guimarães lifts Arsenal level with City: five things from Saturday's Premier League
2026-10-11 · Premier League

Chelsea beat Bournemouth 5-1 with a Jordan Henderson double, ten-man Brighton won again without conceding and Fulham dropped to the bottom after a late collapse at Ipswich.
Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds 2-1 on Saturday and moved level on 15 points with leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand and visit Liverpool on Sunday. Elsewhere in matchweek 6, Chelsea put five past Bournemouth, ten-man Brighton kept their run going and Fulham dropped to the bottom. Five things we learned.
1. Arsenal's bench rescued a flat afternoon
Leeds, unbeaten before kick-off, led through James Justin in the 55th minute. Riccardo Calafiori bundled in an equaliser seven minutes later for his second goal of the season, and summer signing Bruno Guimarães, sent on just after the hour, steered in the winner in the 70th minute from a Declan Rice back-heel. Arsenal had lost 3-0 at Brighton before the international break. "We got out of it through … pinching our desire to win, by showing the personality and courage that we have in this team," Mikel Arteta said. Leeds manager Daniel Farke felt his side "played exactly on their level, more or less". Leeds stay sixth on 9 points.
2. Henderson, 36, made his home debut count
Jordan Henderson scored after 65 seconds at Stamford Bridge, then set up Morgan Rogers, whose deflected shot made it 2-0 after two minutes and 29 seconds, the earliest Chelsea have ever been two goals up in a Premier League game, according to Sky Sports. Joao Pedro scored 30 seconds into the second half and again in the 67th minute, Evanilson pulled one back for Bournemouth, and Henderson completed the 5-1 win with a 25-yard free-kick. "I've been working on it in training for the last week or two," he told the BBC. At 36 years and 115 days, he is the oldest Chelsea player to be directly involved in three goals in a Premier League match. Chelsea are fifth; Bournemouth are still without a league win.
3. Ten-man Brighton keep winning without conceding
Brighton won 2-0 at Sunderland despite losing Pascal Struijk to a straight red card in the 57th minute, given after a VAR review for pulling down Wilson Isidor. Maxim De Cuyper scored from Pascal Gross's pass in the 53rd minute and substitute Jaouen Hadjam added the second in stoppage time. It is Brighton's third straight Premier League win without conceding, a run they had managed only once before in the competition, in October 2018. They are third on 13 points, two behind the top two, and Fabian Hurzeler said he never looks at the table "because results create judgment". Fourth-placed Brentford stayed unbeaten after six games with a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa, Kristoffer Ajer equalising two minutes after John McGinn's goal.
4. No winner at Old Trafford, and no relief
Bryan Mbeumo put Manchester United ahead in the 73rd minute and Rodrigo Bentancur was then sent off for pushing his head into Luke Shaw's. Ten-man Tottenham still equalised in added time through a Dominic Solanke header, only their third league goal of the season. United's six points are their poorest start since 1986, according to the Guardian, and they sit 12th. Spurs are 18th and winless after six league games for only the fourth time in their history. "We are a great group of players but we are not a team yet," said Roberto De Zerbi.
5. Fulham hit the bottom after another late collapse
Fulham led at Ipswich through Ryan Sessegnon's 55th-minute strike until Abdoul Ouattara equalised from 30 yards in the 88th minute and Dara O'Shea headed in Jack Clarke's free-kick in the second minute of stoppage time. With Spurs taking a point, the 2-1 defeat leaves Álvaro Arbeloa's side bottom with two points from six games, seven behind promoted Ipswich. It is the fourth time this season Fulham have conceded after the 75th minute. "I don't feel fear. You cannot be a coach if you feel it," Arbeloa said. Fulham host Hull next Saturday.
