Four teams within a point as Bayern visit Freiburg, likely without Díaz and Kim

One point separates the top four of the Bundesliga before matchday 7. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both have 14 points from six games, Bayern ahead on goal difference (+17 to +7), with SC Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen one point behind on 13. On Sunday, leaders Bayern travel to third-placed Freiburg.

Bayern: two players doubtful after Arsenal

Bayern returned to the top with a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig, but drew 2-2 at home to Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday, conceding the equaliser in the 82nd minute. Winger Luis Díaz came on in the 68th minute and had to go off again; centre-back Minjae Kim, already substituted injured against Leipzig, lasted only until half-time before Jonathan Tah replaced him.

Coach Vincent Kompany expects short absences: "I hope both are similar in terms of time. That means not that long, maybe less than a week." He added: "Really serious injuries have already been ruled out, I think." The German news agency dpa still expects both to miss the trip to Freiburg.

Freiburg: first defeat, top spot lost

Freiburg led the table after matchday 5 but lost 2-1 at Leverkusen on Sunday, their first competitive defeat of the season. Derry Scherhant put them ahead in the 14th minute before Ibrahim Maza and Patrik Schick turned the game, and substitute Lucas Höler only just missed an equaliser in stoppage time.

Coach Julian Schuster saw his side as Leverkusen's equals: "We had a lot, a lot of control. Leverkusen never got into their pressing moments." He added: "A point would certainly have been fair," but "on the other hand, it confirms our path". Freiburg play at AS Monaco in the Conference League on Thursday before hosting Bayern at 17:30 on Sunday.

Leverkusen: Schick's record run

Schick's winner against Freiburg made him the first Leverkusen player to score on each of the first six matchdays of a season. He shares the lead in the scoring chart with Werder Bremen's Niclas Füllkrug on six goals and has nine in nine games in all competitions. "I didn't see a selfish player," coach Carles Martínez said. Leverkusen visit OFI Crete in the Europa League on Thursday, then play at 14th-placed Hoffenheim on Sunday at 15:30.

Dortmund: unbeaten, but two draws

Dortmund are the other side without a league defeat (four wins, two draws), but they drew their last two league games, 2-2 at home to Werder Bremen and 0-0 at Union Berlin. A 1-0 defeat at Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League made it three games without a win before Serhou Guirassy scored twice in a 2-1 win at Sabah FK in Baku on Tuesday. Niko Kovač's side host 11th-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday at 18:30.
