Barcelona host Real Madrid six points clear in LaLiga but without Dani Olmo

Barcelona host Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday at 21:00 Spanish time with nine wins from nine and a six-point lead, but with Dani Olmo ruled out and their defence thinned by injuries.

What is at stake

Barcelona top LaLiga on 27 points, with 39 goals scored and nine conceded. Real Madrid are third on 21 points, one behind Atlético Madrid, who host Deportivo on Saturday. A Barcelona win in this first league Clásico of the season would leave Madrid nine points back after ten matchdays; a Madrid win would cut the gap to three.

Contrasting weeks in Europe

Barcelona's perfect start to the season ended on Tuesday with a 4-2 Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain. Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal scored for Hansi Flick's side, but goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz decided it.

Real Madrid beat RB Leipzig 4-1 on Wednesday, with goals from Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé and Yan Diomande. It was José Mourinho's side's fourth straight win since losing the derby to Atlético, after 1-0 against Villarreal, 4-3 at Roma and 4-1 against Sevilla.

Team news

Olmo injured his left adductor against PSG and is out for at least four weeks. Eric García, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji are also injured. Jules Koundé, who sprained his left ankle, is the only one of the injured players who could make Sunday's game, though Marca says that looks difficult.

Madrid are without Vinícius Júnior, who is serving a four-match ban for his red card against Villarreal. According to El Mundo, Mourinho's most balanced midfield pairing is Aurélien Tchouaméni with Güler, Federico Valverde is an option on the right, and Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Diomande are certain to start.

Mourinho has explained his recent changes as a matter of time: "I've been here 105 days, that's not many. I also need to get to know the players, and the best way to know them is the pitch and competition... There are things we are doing better."
