Hugo Oliveira's side are without Sebastian Nanasi, captain Ismaël Doukouré and Martial Godo for Saturday's sold-out game, and a win would draw PSG level on points with leaders Monaco.
Strasbourg host Paris Saint-Germain at a sold-out Stade de la Meinau on Saturday (17:15 local time) with a squad whose oldest player, goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen, is 24. PSG arrive three days after beating Manchester City 4-2 away in the Champions League.
Four points separate the sides. PSG are sixth with 11 points from six games (three wins, two draws, one defeat); Strasbourg are 11th on seven. A win would lift Luis Enrique's side to 14, level with leaders Monaco until Monaco visit Lorient on Sunday.
Form
Strasbourg lost 2-1 at Nice last Sunday after Dário Essugo had put them ahead in the 41st minute. They conceded an own goal in first-half stoppage time and did not have a shot on target after the break. Asked on Thursday about his side dropping points after taking the lead, Strasbourg coach Hugo Oliveira said: "It's a characteristic of youth. A lack of maturity to manage the game, manage matches, when the difficult moment arrives." He compared his heavily rebuilt squad to a Portuguese saying: it is "like building a plane at the same time as you fly it".
PSG beat Le Mans 3-1 at home last Saturday with Ousmane Dembélé rested, then led 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium after 32 minutes through Désiré Doué, Dembélé and Vitinha. Erling Haaland scored twice for City after the break, either side of a goal from Maghnes Akliouche, who started ahead of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and has scored in both of PSG's last two games. Asked by Canal+ about Saturday's opponent, Dembélé, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner, replied: "We're playing Le Havre on Saturday, is that right?" Once corrected, he added: "Yes, Strasbourg, sorry."
Team news
Strasbourg will be without winger Sebastian Nanasi, injured with Sweden in Romania on 5 October, captain Ismaël Doukouré and Ivorian winger Martial Godo. Brazilian striker Deivid Washington, who has not played this season, is not ready either. No return date has been given. Oliveira called Doukouré and Nanasi "important players" and said he had hoped they could bring "their experience and maturity". Jørgensen, on loan from Chelsea, wore the armband at Nice in Doukouré's absence and faced PSG with Chelsea in the Champions League last March.
"A fantastic challenge"
Oliveira called Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola "the two best coaches in the world" but warned: "If we think too much about the opponent, it's harder. We have to stay humble, work hard and have the courage to play our game." Defender Genesis Antwi, another Chelsea loanee, admitted: "I haven't yet faced players of that level." Strasbourg's last win over PSG was a 2-1 on 3 May 2025; winger Samuel Amo-Ameyaw came off the bench that day.
