Barcelona's 10-win run meets Betis, unbeaten in 15 home league games

Third-placed Betis can cut the leaders' advantage to two points at La Cartuja on Saturday, while Raphinha is back in training for Barça after a thigh problem.

Barcelona take a perfect record to La Cartuja on Saturday (18:30 CEST), the ground where third-placed Real Betis have not lost a league game since Hansi Flick's Barcelona won 5-3 there on 6 December 2025. Barça have won all eight league matches and ten in all competitions, the best start in the club's history according to Barcelona daily Sport. Victory for coach Manuel Pellegrini's Betis would cut the gap at the top to two points.

Two record starts

Barcelona lead with 24 points, 34 goals scored and seven conceded, and they have won all four away games 17-3. Their last league outing was a 3-0 win over Getafe on 10 October, and on Tuesday they won 4-1 at Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Betis have 19 points from six wins, a draw and a defeat, level with Atlético Madrid, who visit Espanyol at 14:00 on the same day. Marca notes that the tally equals the best start in Betis' history, set by Patrick O'Connell's 1934-35 side, which went on to win the club's only league title. At home Betis are four from four this season (8-2) and unbeaten in 15 league games since that defeat by Barcelona, with ten wins, five draws and seven straight victories.

Pellegrini's side followed a 5-2 win over Osasuna on 11 October by coming from 2-1 down to beat Porto 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday. Isco, who also scored against Osasuna, settled it with an 84th-minute penalty in front of 67,114 fans. "Now we host Barça, and what matters is that the team feels important and committed," the Betis coach said afterwards. "They themselves feel confident of winning the next game and staying focused."

Team news

Barcelona forward Raphinha rejoined group training on Thursday. An oedema at the back of his right thigh, picked up with Brazil in late September, kept him out against Getafe and Galatasaray. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong has trained with the group for about a week but has not yet been medically cleared, according to Diario de Sevilla. Sport says both could return to the squad, though neither is expected to start. Centre-back Andreas Christensen and forward Roony Bardghji remain injured.

Barça visit Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday (21:00) and host Real Madrid in the Clásico on 25 October, so Sport expects Flick to rotate in Seville: Marc Bernal could replace Rodri in midfield, Karim Adeyemi is pushing for a start in attack, and Jules Koundé and Xavi Espart are options in defence.

Betis are without Aitor Ruibal and Junior Firpo, both injured, Sport reports. Pellegrini, who made five changes to his starting line-up against Porto, is expected to rotate again, according to Diario de Sevilla.
