50 years of Bayer 04’s 1st fan club: early days, memorable matches & today | "Ihr für Bayer 04"

In 2026, Bayer 04 is celebrating 40 years of participation in European competition. The first fan club, founded in 1976, has actually been around for 10 years longer. It’s a special anniversary, which we took as an opportunity to pay a visit to some of the fan club members at their regular haunt, Rustika in Leverkusen, ahead of the home match against Union Berlin. They reminisce about unforgettable moments and away trips, look back on the anniversary celebrations at the Saal Norhausen, and talk about the fan club’s early days at the old Ulrich-Haberland Stadium. A wonderful love story between Bayer 04 and friends at Kickers Offenbach also comes to the fore.
